We are always on the lookout for the latest interior design trends to inspire our staircase designs, and that’s why at the start of 2016 we decided to quiz three influential figures in the interior design and home renovation world.
Before we talk about 2016, provide an example of a fantastic piece of interior design from 2015 and tell us why you loved it?
Sian is a Manchester based property renovator, interior designer, heritage baths campaigner, self builder, tv presenter and residential landlord. Sian made her name re-designing and re-building homes having started off in 1996 with £1 and a heap of enthusiasm, and has since built up an impressive property portfolio, which you can follow on her blog ‘Moregeous’.
“The image which summed up design in 2015 for me was actually a 2014 image by Cersaie, a Spanish ceramics company. The monochrome palette, the hexagons plus the patterning with the mix of vintage and contemporary materials nailed many of last year’s trends and much of the style to come in 2016. The only thing missing? The black framed Crittal style window frames of course! This image was way ahead of the design curve, I adore it.”

“One of our favourite interior design success stories of 2015 was the kitchen we put into a Paddington Townhouse. They had large, stunning, marble slabs from Via Arkadia going into the bathrooms and we managed to repurpose the off cuts as an impressive splash back in the kitchen. They tied the whole design together and we’d hate to see anything that beautiful go to waste!”

“I feel that 2015 has been an incredible year for interior design. I have witnessed so many fantastic designers and spaces that it is rather hard to pick just one favorite project. If I am only able to pick one, it would have to be a project that I recently featured called “Project Pearl” from interior designers 1508 London. I fell in love with the design because the property originally had an incredible character and features, all which have been retained and restored into a luxurious contemporary design. I have a huge admiration for projects that can acknowledge and respect their traditional past yet can evolve and work in the modern day. It is incredibly hard to get the perfect balance but 1508 have achieved that and more in this stunning design.”
