A day at the Ideal Home Show 2016

Inspiration, News

The Ideal Home Show is now in full swing at Olympia London, and the James Grace team have already had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of house-proud attendees perusing the Ideal Home Improvements section.

With so much to see, we grabbed our cameras and took a flying tour to capture some of the fun from around the show.

Even at the very start of the day, the queue for the Traditionally British Home was huge, with visitors eager to see the traditional interiors, styled by Linda Barker herself.

On first impressions it was clear to see that this was a beautifully quirky take on the classic family home. Filled with contrasting prints and patterns, it was the attention to detail that really stood out in this home, with faux taxidermy and vintage items dotted around the rooms. Sponsors Thomas Sanderson also impressed with their stunning range of shutters and blinds.

Oh and of course there was the James Grace staircase, a contemporary wooden staircase with glass, to compliment the interiors perfectly.

The Ideal Smart Home powered by Virgin Media was full of impressive gadgets, from 3D scanners to digital doorbells. We even got invited in for a live demo!

And then there was the coffee table with built in Arcade Game by Surface Tension.

Next up was a tour around The ARC by Green Unit. This eco home made up of individual modules was certainly a site to behold, even before entering. We loved the Scandinavian style interiors, featuring lighting and furniture from BoConcept.

Moving on to a slightly different theme, we popped along to the Time Saving Home, where everything that can be automated, will be automated.

We were amazed by the Bathomatic bath management system by Unique Automation that allowed you to design and run your bath from your smartphone. Controlling bubbles, scent, temperature and depth.

Time for a little break now at the Super Theatre, where we saw DIY expert Craig Phillips do his thing.

We loved wandering around the other stands too, from Hillarys to Smeg to Adventures in Furniture, there were so many stunning pieces of furniture on display.

Like all good things, the day had to come to an end. And so we retired to the James Grace stand to recoup and get ready to do it all again the next day!
